ISSA-Texas Gulf Coast Chapter July Meeting

The next meeting for the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of ISSA will be held on July 19th.

Topic: "Seven Ways IT is Enabling Cybercrime -- Donít be an Enabler!"

Today's IT departments, sometimes unbeknownst to themselves, are empowering cybercrime by their own actions and lack of actions. Kaspersky Lab presents 7 key things that your IT department is doing, that enables cybercrime to flourish in your own company. It is a tough thing to be introspective and to accept this responsibility, but it behooves us to realize our part in the enablement of cybercrime, so that we may take appropriate measures to stop helping them.

This talk will examine the top items that are currently enabling cybercrime in your company, and provide some insights on the impact, as well as tips to change the way we think about cybercrime.

Time: 5:30pm - 7:00 pm

Location: United Space Alliance Building 600 Gemini Avenue. (Free Parking). Look for the ISSA banner.

Meetings are open to all members and visitors who may be interested in Security. We encourage members and guests to make reservations by contacting Raisha Stevens at: Raisha.E.Stevens@usa-spaceops.com prior to noon on the day before the meeting in order to help us plan snacks and seating. Please include your name, ISSA membership status, and the date for the particular program you wish to attend.

Cost:

$3 for College Students with current student ID, $5 for Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and ISSA Members, $ 10 for Non-ISSA Members

A light meal will be provide for this meeting by Kaspersky Lab.

"Emerging Threats in E-mail Security"

TXGC's last chapter meeting was held on Thursday, March 19, 2009. The topic was "Cloud-Based Security." All the board members of the Gulf Coast Chapter thank Buddy Stavinoha, Senior Regional Sales Manager of Fiberlink for a very enlighting message, as well as all those that attended.
